Why Macroeconomic Models Fail
Modern macroeconomic models assume structural parameters are relatively stable. This paper argues that rising inequality systematically changes those parameters through endogenous feedback loops, rendering conventional VAR and DSGE approaches incapable of accurately forecasting long-run growth. A cellular automata simulation is proposed as an alternative framework for modelling complex adaptive economic systems.
